A Different View

Taking a different view on life?

My mom doesn't know how I can look sideways and run forwards WHILE wearing mittens.
She doesn't appreciate all my talents.

Sunshine Shadows

This past weekend I ventured to a new trail.. Marble Hill in Stowe MA.
Stowe has wonderful conservation land with tons of trails.

It had green signs posted all over for a life course.

I thought they were silly.
You were suppose to do things like swing from a rope.
Use at your own risk. How can I swing from a rope and it not be risky?

Forget the lifecourse, mother nature made her own for me.

It was so quiet. We heard alot of knocking up there..
It was a woodpecker ( I couldn't see him)
It stopped me in my tracks. I sat and listened to the symphony of musical beats.

As you can see, it was a lovely day!

The sun was so bright, we played with our shadows.
I thought my mom wanted my picture... ..
Why would you want a picture of my shadow?
I'm much cuter in full color.

Fire Pig

I love day camp. We always celebrate the holidays with a party.
Monday we celebrated the Chinese New Year- Year of the Ox.
Here's my party photo.

We played with a dragon and had our horoscopes read.
My horoscope says I am a FIRE PIG! Who knew?

Here's what my horoscope reads:
Active, outgoing and extroverted, Fire Pigs breathe new life into everything they do. These Pigs are vivid, motivated individuals who cannot be deterred from a goal once they have set it. They are emotional and passionate about their loved ones, their occupations and their objectives. They are bold and vivacious, unafraid to take risks despite the consequences. They make great bosses because they do work so hard and because they are so spirited. But don’t doublecross a Fire Pig. They have the ability to be quite abrasive when things don’t turn out as they planned.
Me a Fire Pig? I would say it's true.. once I have my eye on a rabbit, I am determined to catch it. I am quite passionate about it and very spirited.. hence the Mr. Bizerko alter ego. I love my mommie and sit on top of her every chance I get. I guess I am a Fire PIG

a heeler at heart

Look at me! It was my lucky day!
I found this soccer ball at the park!
You didn't know, I can dribble and score a GOOAALL like Beckham!

But quickly my dreams of being like Beckham dissipated and turned to my true calling....

I soon found myself herding the soccer ball.
It had the same colors of a sheep!
No biting or kicking, so not a bad deal.

Look at me, I'm pretty good at this herding thing!
And soon I had it out to pasture! My job is done!

Alter Egos

I never disclosed this information but Norwood has an alter ego.
His name is Mr. Bizerko.

Mr. Bizerko runs wildly and unwieldily at you.
Pouncing and tackling you like a running bull.

Mr. Bizerko came out after our first day of Good Dog 101 class.
I guess containing your behavior for an hour has a price.

Tales from the Bridge!

So my mom went first.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and LEEEAAPPED to Victory!
I did it! Yeah! Well this is not the end of the story.
It happens every time we dare to enter the kingdom of fun times!
I guess it's the toll from the bridge monster.

An Extraterrestrial Friendship

Meet my neighborhood friend Zoey.  I always run into her on my walks.  We have a lot in common.  We both are treat mongers, wear reflector vests and blinkers, and are rescues from Tennessee.   Zoey's mom bought her a new blinker light.. It was super duper bright . My mom thought she looked like ET with it on so for the picture she turned it off.
I think we're friends but she doesn't let me get too close. It's probably because I can be a bit of a space invader.  ET and a Space Invader.. we make a good pair.
From a cold day @ the deaner
See I can do the one eye monster look.. just like an alien!

and action .. jumping norwood

This past weekend I went to one of my favorite parks- Dean Park.
I jumped over the fence - oh boy how cute:)
Of course, why not.. let's take a picture
Are you Ready?
Take 1 and action
Take 2 and action
I think I jumped over the fence 15 times.
Finally my mom captured me in full jumping motion.
Yahoo! Are we done with the photo session? This is ridiculous.
Well maybe one for the road... a final action shot of snow zoomies.

Today's Riddle Puzzle?

Q:  What type of tree is found by the river and is soft to the touch?
Hint:You sometimes will get slapped with sloppy kisses when brushing by it.
Look Really Really Close! Put your glasses on if you need to!

A:  A NORWOOD- Oh boy! That is ridiculous!

more snow but lots of fun

This morning we were greeted by a nice fluffy dry snowfall.
It glistened and sparkled in the moonlight.....we are early birds and the sunrise has not happened yet.

Norwood hasn't mastered catching snowflakes on his tongue but
he knows how to grow a frosty beard.

I think he's trying to grow a frosty beard to look like his wire fox terrier friends... archie, asta, noah and agatha.. but I told him being part terrier is enough to be in their pack.

what not to do to your friends

This summer, Norwood made many new friends at the lily pond.

He liked them so much, he jumped in to swim with them all the time.
What's the problem, you ask?  He's swimming with his fun friends.
Well Norwood recently contracted the wonderful intestinal parasite Giardia.  Good news, he is now clear of it.  Bad news, he has been invaded by another parasite... one that comes from the pond.  He has Alaria. The vet has not seen it in a very long time. Alaria only occurs when you ingest the host animal... a tadpole, frog, snake, mouse.  Now he had to ingest it within the last 35 days.  Which friend was it? The pond is frozen over.. ..
Here's what I think happened?  Norwood won't tell me.

I told Norwood that I think we will stick with these kind of friends, friends like Mr. Moose. He kills these friends too but at least he spits out the stuffing. I have to teach him better manners with his friends.  Friends are not for killing or dinner.

Fur Friends Award

Waldo and Gus (Reflections of a Dog Mom blog) awarded me with this Friends award.
Since we are new dog bloggies, we were very surprised and honored.
Here is a poem that honors the friendships with our dogs.
Your Friend. (Anon).
Perhaps you think I do not earn
My board and all my keep.
But who gives you security
When you are fast asleep?
Who, when the master's out of townkeeps beggar folk at bay,
And gives you sweet companionship
When you're alone all day?
With every bark and loving sign,
Let me be yours and you be mine.
Love me, train me, let me be,
Your closest friend eternally.

It's great that the friendship bonds with our dogs is the common thread to connect us as friends across the country. Need I say more. We would like to pass the award on to:

my cousin Tula
the Three Happy Heelers (Gus, Louie and Callie)
Asta
Archie & Agatha
Fenway
Addie & Lucie
Destiny

Thank you from Norwood and his mommie :)
Please pass this award onto at least 8 of your friends!

Gold Medal Performance

The ice capped snow made a perfect ice skating rink.  I bet you did not know but I routinely perform in Ice Capades.  Here is a sample of my show.  You may notice my after bath drying techniques. That's how I practice for the triple double axel that I perform in the show.  I think I perfected it!

Hey- We learned today that our Beantown friends Agatha and Archie have a problem. Maybe you have a suggestion.  Check out their blog and read about Archie's new fear of the snow plow.

tag tag a wonderful game!

King of the Hill,
Top of the Heap,
Norwood went running,
far away from me.

I whistled,
I yelled,
I ran away too.

He ran fast towards me,
my mind made a gasp,
I thought that he finally,
listened at last

But he ran right past me,
and I swear with a laugh,
He ran by me again,
and I had to think fast.

I reached in my bag
and pulled out some treats,
My hand was full,
of good things to eat.
I reached out to offer it,
as he ran full steam at me.

It worked It worked! and I sighed with relief!
Tag Tag a wonderful game!

Ice, Freezing Rain and Snow

5am wet sloppy snow fell from the sky. I didn't mind. That's why I was built with snow shoes. Then the snow turned to an icy rain. I think it came from the happy three heeler land and blew northeast.  I watched the news.. school after school after school closed. Last year my mommie would stay home when the schools closed. Not this year. Oh wait but yes! My fun Aunt Dee is a teacher. She called and told me she was going to surprise me later!  Fun Aunt Dee took me for a long walk.  In these dark days of winter,  she had me put on my reflector vest and then off to the park.  I thought I looked cute in reflector yellow but I only wear it when it's dark.  Hmm but maybe I did look cute. She laid in the snow to take pictures of me.  She had me pose. She shot my profile.  She had me run back and forth.  She had me flip upside down and all around. I hope I get paid for being a great model! I think she wants me to be a movie star!  Look out Marley!

Remembering Last January

Thank you all for the well wishes. Last January is when I found my new home.  I was so little. My nickname was itty bitty.  I was a whole 12lbs...at 7 months.  Now I am a big boy and my nickname has changed..... it's goofball.  This is a picture of my first day.

Back to the Routine

The holidays are over.  The decor is down. Mom is back to work.  I got a call from the vet today with bad news. My sample tested positive for giardia so no day care camp this week.  Just meds and home alone time.  I knew things happened in threes... this was the third.  I will just day dream about my fun at the park.......... I remember.........

The park is ALL Mine! and it's time for snow zoomies!

a visit to the vet is not that bad....

We didn't waste time fulfilling a New Year's resolution... staying healthy. Well at least Norwood was the first to fulfill his (my) resolution.
Norwood had a visit with the vet for his annual exam and shots.

Oh the anticipation... I hear so many noises from behind that door.  Dogs whining, yelping, barking.  People talking.  Who is coming... who?

It is Dr. Scandura.  She seems so nice-of course I must greet her by jumping all over. Norwood finally succumbed to the reason for the visit. Okay okay, I'll get on the table.  Not so bad, it was over soon and I got many treats!
She said she would check out our new blog too.
Thanks VCA Northboro staff for being so good to me each visit!

We are glad this didn't happen......
