tall ships tour! all hands on deck!

Hi every bloggie!
I went to a very neat event today!  Well it was a rough start.. you see mom wanted to see the Tall Ships that came to Boston Seaport for the week.  She read a website that said to go to Quincy Marina Bay Harbor or Charlestown.  So off we went.. headed to Quincy.

I got out and walked along the marina.  All I heard were crickets crickets. I kept looking but only saw tall weeds!  Is that what we came to see! Well that is the JFK Memorial in the distance.. but I came to see TALL SHIPS!

We learned you can only catch the ferry from here.. NO Tall Ships in Quincy. See the map- We had to head into Boston to the Seaport World Trade Center area.  Silly.
I realized I know nothing about sailing or shipping vessels. I quickly had to master sailing and vessel knowledge.  Forty Tall Ships came into Boston!  I had to take in as much sea lingo as possible.  Here is a quick tip on the types of ships.
How do decide which one you want? I'll take the Ketch with fries please. Then we finally saw them!  Look at this fancy mast!
This ship was the Capitan Miranda  Uruguay
Homeport: Montevideo, Uruguay
Rig: Staysail Schooner
Sparred Length: 205’ Draft: 12’ Beam: 27’Hull: Steel

I was declared First Mate! even though I'm more of an apprentice.  I always thought a poop was what I made.. not a raised deck on a ship! huh?  And square knots.. I'll have my favorite square Eric help me on that.
Oh no.. this matey is getting a bit queasy...
I think I'll stay ashore for a while..  More photos to come tomorrow!  Anchors Away!
