Boston Harbor Walk

We headed into South Boston to walk a portion of the
Harbor Walk to Castle Island.  The wind gusts were quite strong that Norwood's ears were like kites flying high.  I am glad we didn't blow away!

a preview of spring

OH BOY! The warmer weather has melted the snow from last week.  What's great about MA is that there are tons of trails everywhere. We looked thru our book The Dog Lover's Companion to New England and picked a new place to explore. We went to Weston Reservoir today. A nice flat trail around the reservoir.  It was our first trip.

It looks like we are looking out from prison fencing but the reservoir is protected and the trails run along the fencing.

Norwood was a blur of constant motion.  Between running through mud puddles, eating tasty presents from other dogs, meeting dog after dog and taking sips from streams.. this is my view.. a blur.

Finally, caught him. Thanks to our new friend Buddy.  Buddy is a rescue dog from KY and a regular here.  They were peas and carrots.  Besides his dad didn't mind the nice tackle greeting Norwood gives humans.  I swear the Packer's defensive line could have used him for blitz option plays.  Now time to scrape the mud off and zzzzzzzzzz nappy time.

A GOOFBALL HAS MANY JOBS

I am such a good helper.  I went to the grocery store today to help.  First I made sure we were going the right way.
Next I checked the bags before we left the store. Yep got everything!

Then I checked the bags when we got inside!  Yep lots of things for me! Opps got caught... look cute for a picture.

Then I was a blanket for my mommie.  I am tired now.

Meet Norwood's Friend

Crazy weather- 40's and 60's the next couple days. All the snow is melting away.  The fields and trails were too sloppy to run in so we walked through downtown Hudson. Norwood always stops to say hi to his restaurant friend.  We don't know his name. He doesn't say much but he was much too tall to get a full shot without stepping into traffic.  He doesn't pet Norwood. Norwood must like the smell of pizza pie coming from him.  Or maybe Norwood is trying to find a daddy.  Who knows. Norwood is not very discriminating.

Today's Walk

Today we took a long walk through the Northboro neighborhoods and park.  We haven't been there in awhile- we forgot how much we liked that route.  In the field there was a hole in the snow,  Norwood didn't know what to do about it. He slowly moved forward but chickened out to look in it. It was only a sewer drain.  Geez! Norwood then picked out the best decorated house.  He liked this one the best.  And took a minute to pose for a snow photo at the elementary school. Next time we are going to bring our sled and hit the hill behind the school.  Quite a fun walk and he was a good boy.  We didn't even know we were being followed by his cousin Tula- that's how much fun we had.

Working from Home

This morning it was a crispy 3 degrees for our walk.  It didn't seem to bother Norwood...I guess chasing a ball will always keep you warm. We ran into his friend Zoey who is a mini dachshund/Chihuahua mix.  She was wearing her new blue parka but still was not happy about the weather.  I wish I had my camera handy.  A pouty little girl- all dressed up and mad.

Today I worked from home.   Norwood's version of "work from home" is a little bit different than mine.  Good thing I earn the pay check. :(

Doggie Day Camp- Winter Solstice Party

I hate to keep posting about the weather but this morning it was a chilly blustery 14 degrees. The snow pelted your face- it felt like dermabrasion.  Norwood went to day camp today for the Winter Solstice party.  He came home with an award.. Best Kisser!:)  I will have to scan the award and post in the morning.  He also took a minute to pose for his winter photo in the snow globe.  In the meantime, here is a snapshot of Norwood and his camp friends today. Time for cuddling.

Oh no! I am up late watching the Green Bay Packers and they just lost in overtime to the Chicago Bears.  Another heartbreaker.  I can't believe another close one- lost it. There is a tear in my beer.

Where's Norwood?

It's usually dark when we take our morning walks so Norwood sports his blinker.  I am thinking he could be back up for Rudolph guiding Santa's sleigh?  What do you think?

Snow Tracks

Norwood had fun in our first major snow storm for this winter. We love the snow!:) Chase the ball.... lose the ball in the snow. Dig the ball out and start all over. We made lots of fun snow tracks. We have 7 inches and more to follow-track the storm here.  More snow heading our way!  Good thing he has long legs for a little guy. Here we are walking along the Assabet River.  He thought about going for a dip, but fortunately stopped.

A funny from FUN AUNT DEE-

Always check your kid's homework..........

Note sent the next school day with 1st grader.....
Sorry teacher. That's not a dance pole on stage in a strip joint! I work at Home Depot, ... that's me selling a shovel.

A COLD SUNDAY MORNING

This morning it was 12 degrees. Quite cold but we still manage to do our 3 mile walk.  Yesterday we came across a little white tail bunny.  It came out of nowhere and norwood ran after it then 30 seconds later the bunny came out of trail running the other way. I laughed. Out smarted by a rabbit again.

Anyways, on these cold mornings, I like to think warm and think about summer.  Here is Norwood having fun at Hopkinton State Park.  This park is close to the start line of the infamous Boston Marathon. It is a nice woodsy area.  Fun trails, swimming and kayaking available at this park.

ICE STORM HITS BOSTON

Yesterday we were hit with an awful ice storm. The power went out at 4am and finally restored by 1pm.  Since I just started a new job, I don't have much time off to take.  Of course I had scheduled a day off yesterday and spent most of it stranded inside.  Go figure.

Nonetheless, I put up all my christmas decorations and cleaned out my closets.  This will be Norwood's first Christmas with me.  I found a Santa Hat bandana so I had him wear it while I put up the decor.  Very festive.  That's all from Marlboro

Fun Times on the Weekends

Let's see, the weekends are dedicated to Norwood. He is practicing a few skills during our adventures outside.  Today we are learning stand and jump.  My sister wants him to do paws targeting since he uses his little snow shoes all the time.

Looking at the local Things TO DO calendar, there are quite a few events for the holiday.  Looks like the Bay Colony Dog Show is today.  May have to head over and attend. Has anyone been to it before?  It looks like a really good show.
