K95K trail race adventure

hi every bloggie!

Last weekend I headed down to Cape Cod. Who doesn't like going to the Cape... well besides the stupid traffic. Anywho, I went to the Cape to run in my very first race, the K95K trail race. It was for humans AND their dogs! Wahoo! The race took place in Falmouth in the BeBee Woods Trails and it was a blast!

Here's me styling and profiling at the start line.
And somehow I talked Fun Aunt Dee into joining in the fun. Since she's a teacher, she has nothing else to do right now.
But Fun Aunt Dee was Tula-less. Tula is not much of a runner.. let alone walker in the heat so she joined the race virtually - on her iPhone. Some may say that's a smarter way to enjoy the race.

Okay okay, I was super excited to get this started. The race director estimated about 100 dogs attended the event and over 1/2 ran with their humans. Check out the start line! Furry Fun balls.

Let's just say, once the start horn blew- it was on. Mom has never felt the power of the pack before until today! We were flying! Check out this raw photo coverage of me running on the trail. That's what mom saw the entire time while dodging rocks, tree roots and other racers.
The finish line! Exhausted.
Here's actual footage of my fun aunt dee crossing the finish line with tula on her arm.
Umm.. these water buckets just didn't seem big enough for me to dip my whole body in. Oh.. what's that? They were meant for drinking not swimming? Oops- my bad.
If interested, here's a short Finish line video where we all laid out. Then comes the pawty part. After the race there was an award ceremony, food, an auction and other stuff to raise money for the Friends of Falmouth Rescue! Oh yeah and I was blessed! This lady did a special blessing of us pets. Mom tried to get me front and center, saying something that I need extra blessing powers some days. Silly she's the one who's blessed for having me.

Oh yeah..There was lots of cool things up for auction.
People sure can make a dog out of almost anything.
CapeK Cardio was the cool pet sitting company who hosted the race. Seems like they are personal fitness trainers for dogs taking them running and to the beach. For a nordude like me, I wish I lived in their range of service. Here's their slideshow from the race.
That's all folks! See you at the finish line! woot woot!

  7. Oh my dogness! We almost went to Cape Cod this weekend to visit friends. I bet it was the threat of RUNNING in the area that scared mom off. Running + Heat + Mom = bad news.

So glad you had fun! Love you swimming! BOL!

  9. Maybe next year they should just have a swimming race! It seems like dogs would appreciate that a lot more!

  10. Norwood: I love the life you live with your Mom - oh - and fun Aunt Dee! Whatta race you ran - sucha blur! Great causes, great sponsors and you deserve a giant gold star! I'd have tried to dump my bod into the communal water bowl too heheh! Great post - wonderful slide show and movies - I hope it isn't too hot in MA, but fear it's possibly sizzling. Stay cool my friend - hose off every... oh... minute! (Sawries again about our on again off again style of commenting these days - sometimes none, once in a while a short one - we love you - lil one still's a bit demanding, but better!) We love you!

  19. MADNESS! I thought Fun Auntie Dee was older and wiser than your crazy mom all running around in the heat like that. Good heavens. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

Had I known tula was lacking in companionship I would have headed right over to her place.

  20. I more of a sprinter myself - 5K me? No way. Momma has said she wants to take me to the CAPE though. She thinks we should go in the fall after Labor day when the doggies can go on the Beach. I'll have to do some research to what part of the cape is most doggie friendly.
