what's so fancy about flying bugs?

hi every bloggie!

There's been some strange things going on around here. Lookie! that's my mom below. She's sprouted wings? Oh, well she was off work this past week and touring around those old folks we mentioned earlier. Seems they even went to places- gasp- dogs are not allowed. One being the butterfly place. Seeing it was kinda kool, I decided to allow a post about it on my bloggie.
The garden was enclosed in a 80-85 degree room. Seeing they were trying to keep out of the heat... it was probably not the best venue to visit. Anyways, hundreds of butterfly species were just flying about. Who knew bugs could be beautiful? This one here is a .. I don't know. I think it's related to the Owl Butterfly.
This one is a Scarlet Swallow tail
The next one a blue morpho- so pretty

I think this one is the Hecale butterfly.
Then I thought it got a bit creepy. Look at the cocoons hanging around.
And big massive moths.
Okay- ready to enter the flying bug zone. Check this out, mom got a bit freaked out with them flying at her. Seems she shouldn't be "touched" by a bug. You may want to prepare yourself to lower the volume when she starts to squeak in high pitches. Silly. I think this confirms she is a full fledged woos.

Here's a longer video clip if you want to see more and hear mom babble. Okay tahdah.. here is the owl butterfly. Still creepy if you ask me.
He seemed to attach himself to my grampy's pantaloons.
But the sign said.. no hitch hikers. Owl face fly had to stay.

if you'd like to catch more butterfly action, all the fotos are posted on my flickr page!
Anyways, it was a good thing I wasn't invited. Remember? bugs, fancy schmancy or not, bother me!

and gulp! I don't hesitate to eat them. That would've been a problem with the garden peeps, I think.

Okay enough of those fancy bugs. More funballs time with me.

  1. I'm sorry - I really laughed at the video! What a neat place to go to - we don't have anything like that here!

  2. The Momster is oohing and aahing away here and then she laughed at your Mom's squeals:) We have a beautiful butterfly exhibit here at Powell Gardens. We don't get to go there either, Norwood. But Ciara is getting really good at snagging cicadas. She caught a live one on our walk last night and you should have heard the momster's voice then - Ciara won.

    Sam and Pippen

PeeS. Mom says she'll try to get a photo of the eagle...

  6. I guess we should turn our speakers down! Your mom's squeeling sent Patches running from the room. I don't know why...she is used to hearing the same screeching coming from our mom if a bug or spider gets on her. And you should hear her if she sees a snake! The whole neighborhood knows about it!

  7. Oh my ears!

I don't care how good looking they are, they are still bugs and momma would be making exactly the same sounds if one touched her.

  8. That's pretty neat of you to allow your mommie to post about her butterfly farm trip :D

Her squeaks did startle us silly cos our hooman girl forgot to turn down the volume. We tot out hooman girl was in trouble.. we went into a barking frenzy.. *BOL*

Thanks for sharing these lovely pics.. hope you are having a great weekend Norwood!

  9. Mom says there used to be a butterfly garden around here, but they didn't have one last year or this year. We really enjoyed your pictures of yours!

  16. Norwood, we love butterflies so much - that was a great post. We loved visiting the butterflies at Boston Zoo last year - they kept landing on Murray's Dad (they seem to really like his bald head) - Murray thought it was the funniest thing ever!

Guess your Mom isn't so fond of them though!

    take care

  17. Didn't your nice visitors remind her to use her inside voice?

    Khyra and Khousin Merdie
PeeEssWoo: Fur some reason, the owl butterfly is one of our favourites!
